EMERGENCY BUZZER — MAJORS

46-year-old woman receiving her first dose of IV co-amoxiclav for lower-limb cellulitis.

Approximately 3 minutes after the infusion started she suddenly developed throat tightness, facial and lip swelling, difficulty breathing, wheeze, widespread urticaria and dizziness.

Nurse: “She’s deteriorating rapidly. She says her throat is closing. What do you want me to give?”

The co-amoxiclav infusion is still connected.
